Conveyancing

Conveyancing is the legal process of transferring property ownership. In other words when someone buys or sells a house the legal work involved in changing over the ownership is called "conveyancing".

In New South Wales the conveyancing profession was legalised in 1993 when the government decided that solicitors had a monopoly and were involved in price fixing.

By introducing conveyancers the cost of conveyancing has dropped from about $2,500.00 in 1993 to roughly $1,500.00 today.

Licensed Conveyancers must be legally qualified, have a minimum of 2 years experience in a conveyancing practice and hold professional indemnity insurance.

Conveyancers are require to undertake professional education each year to keep up to date with legislative changes and to hone their conveyancing skills.

In comparison to solicitors conveyancers are trained to handle any issue that may come up throughout the conveyancing process but cannot get involved with any other area of law such as workers compensation or public liability.

When using a conveyancer as against a standard solicitor you are using a specialist in much the same way as you would go to a physiotherapist for a muscular strain as against your GP who has knowledge of the area, but is not a specialist.

Castle Conveyancing

Castle Conveyancing is owned and operated by Liam Heery.

Liam HeeryLiam obtained his conveyancing qualification from Macquarie University and prior to opening Castle Conveyancing worked for a number of years at Paul Denny Conveyancing Lane Cove.

Liam established his own practice in 2000.

Liam has been in Australia since 1981 and has lived in a number of locations in Sydney and also in Coffs Harbour. With experience (prior to conveyancing) in sales, marketing and business development Liam has introduced a practice that is totally focused on customer service in a profession that can be very staid and domineering.

Having bought and sold numerous properties (some of them privately) Liam understands the emotion and stress involved in buying and selling property and does everything possible to ensure a smooth transaction.

Liam has worked in all areas of New South Wales from Cobar to Tumut and is therefore well placed to do your conveyancing anywhere in the state. He has also been personally involved in "corporate moves" and has dealt with clients from Japan to Europe.

Liam has served on the council of the Australian Institute of Conveyancers NSW Division and is therefore involved in the direction of the profession. It has also given Liam an early insight into legislative changes and input into the making of that legislation.
